The best way to predict your business’s future

Hello Reader,

As we wrap up the year and start looking toward 2026, I keep coming back to one of my favorite quotes:

“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” — Abraham Lincoln

It’s simple, but it’s also one of the clearest pieces of advice an entrepreneur can live by.

Because most people wait for the future to happen.

They wait for:

  • the right moment,
  • the right revenue,
  • the right team member,
  • the right level of confidence,
  • the right feeling of “now we’re ready.”

They wait for signs instead of making decisions.
They wait for clarity instead of creating it.
They wait for certainty instead of building it.

And then another year passes, and the goals they hoped would “work themselves out” are in the exact same place.

But Lincoln’s quote is a reminder that the future isn’t found — it’s built.
It isn’t predicted — it’s shaped by the choices we make now.

What does this have to do with trademarks?

A lot of business owners have big goals for the new year:

  • finally launching the product,
  • scaling their offer,
  • running ads,
  • growing their online presence,
  • building a recognizable brand.

But then they hesitate on protecting the very name that carries all that future growth.

They say:

  • “I’ll file once the brand gets bigger.”
  • “Let’s wait until after we see how the launch goes.”
  • “I’ll do it later when things calm down.”

But here’s the reality:

Every successful brand gets copied.
Every visible brand gets noticed.
Every growing brand becomes a target.

The more momentum you build, the more essential your trademark becomes.

You don’t trademark because you're big.
You trademark so you can grow safely — and create the future you want for your business.

Creating your future instead of reacting to it

When you file a trademark, you’re not just submitting a form.
You’re making a statement about your future:

  • “This brand will grow.”
  • “I’m building something I want to protect.”
  • “I’m not leaving this to chance.”

That’s what real future creation looks like.

It’s building stability before success, not scrambling after the fact.
